Prenatal classes are provided in a number of places. However, doing a quick online search might show that there are very few IN-PERSON options in Hamilton and Niagara Region.
If you learn best in a hands-on setting, or if you would benefit from meeting other expectant parents, ClassWomb offers in-person, group and private classes in Hamilton and Niagara.
Prenatal classes help to prepare new parents for the journey ahead. Prenatal education has consistently been shown to improve outcomes for new families and infants. You will learn about informed decision making and how to make the right choices for you and your family. You will learn what to expect during labour, birth and how to care for your newborn. Overall, prenatal classes help new parents gain confidence and knowledge on the new and exciting stage you are entering.
These classes will outline:
Changes to the body, and what to expect during labour
Techniques during labour to help with relaxation or pain management
The role of the support person during labour and the postpartum period
What to expect during vaginal and c-section deliveries
Asking the right questions to you care team
Newborn care and the benefits of skin to skin
Feeding and responding to your baby’s cues
Maternal mental health and changes to your relationship
We offer 6 hours of in-person prenatal classes that occur in two, 3-hour sessions.
-Group classes, typically take place over 2 weekends
-Private Classes, take place in your home over 2 evenings
We will learn through doing a variety of activities that reinforce learning, along with discussions to hear more about your concerns and expectations during this time.
Yes! We encourage your support person to attend class with you. We will provide detailed coaching on your support person’s role in making the birth of your little one, a positive experience. The cost of registration listed is per couple.
